The Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training is for those who are already Level 2 Gym instructor / Fitness Instructor qualified and wish to continue to develop to becoming a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer.
If you are not already qualified as a Level 2 Gym Instructor / Fitness Instructor then you may be interested in the Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instruction and Personal Trainer which can also be completed as a 100% online personal training course.

Enrolment
When you enrol on the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training you will receive your joining instructions via email giving you access to your learning resources.
Your personal tutor will then make contact with you to arrange a time to explain the online learning portal, agree study targets and agree your next support visit.
Throughout your personal training course your experienced personal tutor will support you to ensure you have a clear action plan to ensure full participation with your learning and provide guidance on what work needs to be completed and by when, to ensure that you can successfully complete your personal training course.
Assessment
Being an online course, it is possible to complete every aspect of the programme online via distance learning. However, it is not always convenient to arrange and conduct the recording of yourself and your client for the purpose of your practical assessment in a public gym. It is for this purpose CMS give you the option of attending one of our assessment days to conduct any practical assessments.
It is expected that the Level 3 Diploma in Personal trainer will take no more than 4-6 months to complete, depending on how many hours you complete per week and your rate of learning.

The Level 3 Diploma in Persoanl Training is made up of 6 units. Below we explain how each unit is assessed.
Unit 1 Applied anatomy and physiology for exercise, health and fitness (F/615/4012)
- Open-book Online 40 question multiple-choice exam. The pass mark is 28 / 40 (70%) and you have 1 hour 30 minutes to complete it.
Unit 2 The principles of nutrition and their application to exercise and health (J/615/4013)

Unit 1 and 2 additional information:
- You can sit your exam online on a date/time of your choosing via remote proctor software. Please note there is an additional fee for any resits.

- You can re-sit an exam as many times as needed, however CMS Fitness Courses has a responsibility to ensure that teaching and learning occur in between each exam to promote learner development and quality of delivery. Re-sit fees are £25 per exam.

- A summative observed session – Personal training. The Personal Training observation is assessed by a CMS tutor via a video recorded submission.

To enroll on the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training you need to:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Hold a suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary. - There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and maths involved, so learners should have basic skills in communication and maths pitched at level 2 (as a minimum).
In addition, to complete the 100% online pathway you will:
- Complete the course over a duration and speed that suits you
- Have 24/7 access to our high-quality digital technology learning platform and regular support from your personal tutor
- Learning can be completed in your own time and at your own pace but the attendance of some live webinar sessions is required
- Need to have access to a commercial/professional gym environment
